You don’t need to go to the gym to exercise, or even have any equipment or extra time. In fact, you can organize body movement as part of your everyday work schedule, and you can start with these 3 simple steps:
Standing Meeting
Make your next meeting a standing meeting. Instead of sitting in chairs around the table, put the chairs under the table and stand behind your chair to talk. Try it, and you’ll be amazed by the increased energy you put into your discussion as people feel free to move a bit more (and who knows, you may even save time as people want to wrap things up so they can go sit down sooner).
Look Who’s Talking
When you find yourself on those ever-important calls throughout the day, instead of sitting at your desk to take these calls, put your chair under your desk and stand behind it. Consider a little pacing if a chord isn’t restricting your movement. Do note the importance of good posture, though: think about aligning your body with your head over your neck over your (pulled-back)shoulders over your spine over your tailbone over your knees over your ankles.
Switch Hands
Using your non-dominant hand stimulates your brain by requiring you to develop novel approaches to complete familiar tasks, such as eating, brushing your teeth or combing your hair. Give it a shot throughout the day, and maybe you’ll even end up training yourself to become ambidextrous.
