I have mixed feelings about the presentation of this article:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-11201068
but all in all I appreciate what’s going on here. After all, in the opening lines, one of the reasons it says skip on the bariatric surgery is because ultimately the surgery isn’t effective so the cost-benefit analysis doesn’t come out positive.
Though it does still support bariatric surgery in about a 1/4 of cases, the point is that “healthier lifestyles” should be pursued as an alternative. And this actually doesn’t mention weight loss as the preferred outcome of those healthier lifestyles - shocking, I know.
What are your thoughts? Have you had bariatric surgery or do you know someone who has? Was the operation successful or are there problems now?
