I’m in my ‘final’ year of a PhD at the University of York, UK. My work is looking at discourses of fatness in celebrity gossip and the ways in which women make sense of these discourses. I’m working from a fat studies/women’s studies paradigm. I want to do more fat studies work after this and have a trillion ideas.

In May 2008 I convened the first fat studies conference in the UK and am currently co-editing a book called ‘Fat Studies in the UK’. It was fab. Or flab. Or both.

When not writing (or avoiding writing) the thesis or editing the book, I am usually singing,  eating marshmallows, watching burlesque or roller derby and supporting the Red Sox. Good times never felt so good. so good so good so good.
