Weather

Definition: the state of the atmosphere at a place and time as regards heat, cloudiness, dryness, sunshine, wind, rain, etc.

Consider this...

The weather, to be sure, is a volatile mistress, with effects that run the gamut - just look at the formal definition of the word.

At this time of year the weather can be a bit whacky, and it affects some of us pretty deeply. Indeed, during the winter, when it’s often cold and dismal outside, many people find themselves getting increasingly reclusive and depressed. Sure, some are merely trying to stay warm inside, but others are driven a little nutty by the Winter Weather Months. Bad weather makes us grumpier, lonelier and more prone to take people’s criticisms to heart.

But I want you to share something with you about the weather that someone told me recently:

“All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.”

Be like the weather and don’t get blown over by people’s criticisms. This is not a license to be intransigent, but it is me telling you to be who you are, and not let the nasty comments of others weather your resolve to be yourself.

Embrace the weather. Ignore nasty criticism. Be yourself.

And try not to let these dreary months get you down!
