Definition: any thing or person greatly valued or highly prized; to retain carefully or keep in store, as in the mind; to regard or treat as precious; cherish.

Consider this...

Someone once asked me if I would be willing to participate in a very unique challenge: throw or give away one unnecessary item each day for one whole year. It sounds outrageous, right? But when you think about all of your possessions, how many of those items could you really live without?

Forget about your brand new iPhone or that snazzy watch you’ve been eyeing at the mall. I’m talking about the stuff you treasure, the precious things that you can’t dream of not having in your life. Treasures that always makes you smile or give you strength when you’re feeling down.

Maybe it’s a piece of jewelry that’s been passed down from generation to generation in your family, or a tattered note that was given to you by someone you love dearly. Maybe it’s a lucky penny or a trinket from your childhood. People can be treasures, too. There’s always a “special someone” - a sibling, a mentor, a friend.

I treasure a little green stone that has the word ‘breathe’ carved into it. It was given to me as a gift, and I carry it with me wherever I go - a frequent reminder to let go and enjoy the present.
