Recover
Definition: return to a normal state of health, mind, or strength
For the last 10 days, I have been battling the worst cold in the history of all colds. It just will not go away. And I’m pretty sure it’s because I haven’t given my body enough time to recover properly.
If I wake up and feel good, and do all the normal things I do in any given day: go to work, run errands, socialize with friends. And the next morning? I feel awful. Like a took a step backwards. Even though I am feeling better, I know that I need to take a couple of days to get healthy fully, rather than force the recovery just because I don’t like being sick.
That’s not the way our bodies work, and they will let us know.
So, I’m making a pledge right now. Starting today, I am always going to allow myself - mind and body - to recover fully. Whether it takes one day or ten, I will recover fully before charging back into my normal life.
This week, I challenge you to take the same pledge. Recovery is sometimes slow, and unpleasant, but your body will be so happy that you took the time to do it.
