Interpretation
Definition: the action of explaining the meaning of something; a stylistic representation of a creative work or dramatic role

So much of our perception, emotion and attitude depends on how we interpret experiences, events and interactions in our lives. Almost everything you experience in the world is relative, and our subjective interpretation is incredibly determinative.
Do you have friends who are always incredibly hard on themselves, even when they have reason to feel pride? Do you know others who seem to always claim excellence and praise no matter how insignificant their actions? I often wonder what type of upbringing and environmental factors contribute to the way people perceive their own accomplishments, how they interpret their own actions and circumstances.
My goal is to find the middle ground in the way I interpret what happens in my life. I don’t want to be overly critical about the things I don’t accomplish, but I also don’t want to think I deserve a prize or praise every time I help someone or finish a task. I am striving to give myself just as much credit, and not more, as I deserve, by interpreting my life in a fair and realistic manner.
As I interpret every experience, I hope to learn to create this sense of balance and enrich my life thereby.
