Generosity
Definition: readiness or liberality in giving; largeness or fullness
When people think of generosity they often think of wealthy people donating large sums of money or dedicating buildings at prestigious universities or giving up their regular lives to work in a third world country teaching modern farming practices to the locals.
But generosity doesn’t just have to be these “huge” acts. Generosity comes in many forms.
To be generous we merely need to give something of ourselves for the bettering of someone else’s life.
For instance, when you pass someone who looks lonely or sad, don’t avoid eye contact. Smile at that person and perhaps proffer a little hello. Does a little old lady at the grocery store need help loading her groceries into her car. Take two minutes and lend a hand. Is there trash on the sidewalk that you could throw away? Well, do.
Sure, these acts aren’t generally associated with generosity, but you’d be amazed at what these little things amount to. Giving of ourselves - in any way - is generous. Don’t undermine the value generosity, in all forms, has.
And, if you look at the dictionary definitions above, you’ll notice that fat people and generosity are intertwined, as generosity is inherently “largeness or fullness.” Generosity is part of you so exercise that generosity today.
