Life is Not all Roses
I recently met with a new client, who we’ll call Jane (I’ve changed her name for obvious privacy reasons). New clients fill out a Foundation Form, on which I gather information to give people a truly wonderful experience at enarji.
Unfortunately, the information Jane gave me was not all roses. This, as briefly as possible, is Jane’s story.
Are you Ever Going to Come out From Under There?
Two years ago Jane’s mother passed away from a terminal illness. Jane was very close to her mother, but knew she had to be the one to organize all of the funeral arrangements and keep the family together, which she did in a very business-like, yet heart-felt manner.
This professional distance from her mother’s passing kept Jane from realizing that her mother was gone. It wasn’t until she returned home and reestablished life in her own environment that it struck her: her mother was dead.
Jane virtually hid under the covers for three months, not ever wanting to come back out.
It was not until her partner stuck his head under the covers and asked, “Are you ever going to come out from under there?” that Jane was struck by her situation.
She thought, “Hang on. I have a life. I have other people that care for me. Maybe I should come out from under here.”
Why Can I Barely Walk 300 Meters and What Can I Do About It?
So bit, by bit, Jane slowly started to emerge from under the covers. She went back to work, but realized that the job wasn’t for her; thus, she quit and got another one better suited to her life.
Jane got a dog, and then she started walking with her dog. Whilst walking her dog, she realized, where did my health go?
For you see, Jane was used to running 12 kilometers, but was now having difficulty walking just 300 meters. The next big decision she made was to get up the courage to ring me and ask me if I could help her get back on track again.
Just deciding to reclaim one’s life from the throws of personal tragedy is a big feat, and I’m glad to say that Jane has made a great decision.
From the moment we spoke onward, Jane took charge of her own destiny to improve her life for the better. She realized that her mother would not want to see her feeling sad and unhappy. She would want Jane to take charge of her life again by getting out and moving her body to overcome the trauma she had experienced. Our bodies’ physiological reactions to movement, amongst many other things, are uplifting, and Jane chose to take advantage of that to start feeling better.
You never know what in life is going to get you down and make it hard for you to come back up again, but one thing’s for sure: if you don’t resolve to try, you’ll stay down for a long time. I’m glad Jane realized what she did and is on her way to a happier and healthier life.
Has something unfortunate happened to you that has stalled your life in some way or another? If you’re comfortable sharing your experiences and how you overcame them (or are trying to), I would love to hear about them in the comments.
