Life in the Fat Lane

There are few boundaries to the kinds of material you'll find here, so long as it has to do with the wide and wonderful world of fat. Whether issues in science, health, fat politics, the fat community, information on More of Me to Love or musings on the cruisings of the fat lane, this is a place for shifting gears.

I recently saw a great YouTube video that I couldn’t help but share with you here.

The video is by Dr. Mike Evans who discusses, in his estimation, the single best thing one can do for his/her health. I was really excited to hear what the single one, not difficult thing is, because it’s something that we’ve been saying forever here at More of Me to Love.

Be forewarned, “weighing less” is on a larger list of things that he says are generally better for your health, but on some level he seems to just be sharing the common “wisdom.”

The amazing part about this video is what Dr. Evans says about “obesity.” He asserts that, based on the research (and he seems well read), when one walks 30 minutes a day, s/he effectively reduces/removes the otherwise negative effects correlated with “obesity.”

That is, you can be fat and healthy or skinny and healthy so long as you walk about thirty minutes a day. That’s amazing!

And if you have trouble walking due to mobility issues, the key thing is to get some kind of movement. If you have to use a hand bike, that’s fine, too. There are so many things one can do, but make sure that it’s pleasurable body movement.

I’m thrilled that 1.1 million people have watched this video to great acclaim and they’re all being told that fat and healthy is totally possible - it’s all about movement, not size! That means that Dr. Evans is effectively spreading the word about Health at Every Size: you can be fat and healthy. How? Just walk!

A particularly enjoyable element of this is in the presentation, and I encourage you all to watch and enjoy.

Just 30 minutes a day - it’s the MOMTL way!
