Soul Food: Nourishing the Inner You

image

When it comes to feeling happy, the most important organ in our bodies is the brain, which means that in order to be joyful we have to think happy thoughts. Whether you think that sounds cheesy or brilliant, this blog will teach you how to get in touch with yourself and how to love the wonderful body that you’ve been given. Let’s nourish the inner you.

Hooray for Spring!

The days are getting longer and warmer.  There’s an extra bounce in your step.  The birds are whistling a tune to move you along on your way.

Spring is often a time when our earlier desires start coming to fruition.  Did you ever notice yourself making a New Year’s Resolution about getting more exercise?  You do it for a few days in January, but it’s cold and dark.  Then, finally, March comes around, and you find yourself exercising more and taking more walks.  That’s the magic of Spring!  The world comes to life again all around you, and that energy nourishes your actions.

If you’ve spent the Winter focusing inwardly and noticing your feelings and desires for the coming months, then this tip might not be that important for you.  But I find that most of us spend the Winter wishing for Spring.  When Spring finally comes around, we have new energy but don’t know where to direct it.

Write Down What You Want

So I encourage you now, on the verge of Spring, to make a list of desires.  Make them big and bold or small and fun.

You can write, “I desire a new job with 4 weeks paid vacation where I make at least $___ per year,” or “I desire a sexy boyfriend who’s really into Will Ferrell movies,” or “I desire a free iced coffee,” or whatever else appeals to you.  The key is to enjoy these desires, to play with them and to stay positive when thinking about them.

Writing your desires puts you in touch with the abundance of the Universe.  It allows you to live in a world of possibility where your desires are important and accessible.

You may be surprised by the speed at which you attain some of your desires.  When you attain a desire, cross it off your list and write, “Thank you!”  This keeps the energy of your desires positive and allows you to acknowledge all that you’ve received.  Keep adding to your list whenever a new desire comes up!

Extra Credit

Since this time of year is all about energy and movement, I desire for you all, after writing your desires, to do something big and bold with them.  Go to the ocean and write them in the sand.  Go to the mountains and call them out to the heavens.  Dance in your home to one of your favorite songs and yell them or sing them.  You will be so glad that you did!

I love Spring. The cold weather makes me sour and want to stay inside. I hate wearing a poofy coat to stay warm and being that much bigger walking down the street. Spring is so much better. For my Spring desires am I allowed to wish for an end to winters? Ha, that’s like a global-warming wish so maybe I shouldn’t. Still, winter is not my thing and I’m so glad Spring is here.

Thanks for your comment. I’m so glad Spring is here too.  And I think the best way to enjoy winter is to give yourself as much “hibernation” time as possible.  :)
