On July First I completed the Gold Coast Half Marathon and dedicated my run to us plus size women. For those of you unfamiliar with half marathons, the distance is 21 kilometers (= 13.1 miles).
Why did I do this?
It’s simple. I ran because I am so sick and tired of hearing that the so-called “overweight” people of the world would not be suited to compete in such an event and that they are too overweight so would have to lose some weight before attempting a running program such as this.
Throughout my entire 20 week training program, I did not change my diet. I ate as if everything was normal, I didn’t implement a special diet. I wanted to make the point that you can be fit, healthy, and plus-sized!
When I started training, I weighed 80kg (=176 pounds), and at the end of my training I was still the same weight. That’s right, I trained for a half marathon - and then completed it successfully - without lozing a gram. That said, my fitness levels and health significantly improved due to the gradual running intensity.
My next goal is to help people like me train for an event they would love to achieve, but feel that they can’t because of the negative views held by society. Many people don’t even think plus-sized people should think about such an accomplishment. Don’t ever think that you can’t do it, because I know that you can. I’m proof!
Here is how I want to help.
Starting this Saturday, I will begin a new training program - but this time, not for myself. I had 20 weeks to train for my half marathon, but I am giving clients in my local area an opportunity to train with me for their first ever half marathon, which will take place on the Gold Coast this time next year.
So, instead of only getting 20 weeks to train for such an event, I am giving my clients 50 weeks to train, which will make the half marathon goal much more manageable to take on. That’s 30 extra weeks of training time. With this amount of time up their sleeves, running will be a piece of cake.
I would also love to share this opportunity with the MOMTL Community.
I know that many of you don’t live near me in Australia, but that doesn’t mean you can’t participate!
I am offering MOMTL readers 10 spots in my virtual half marathon program for a fraction of the price! Normally this offer would be $610 for 50 weeks. However, for the MOMTL community, I am giving you this special offer for only $152 for 50 weeks. That’s $3 a week to have a professional train you for a half marathon!
