I’m very proud to present the newest FATshion interview with the beutiful blogger LuAnne D’Souza, a.k.a. Weesha from Weesha’s World.

Weesha was born in India but currently lives in Dubai, in The United Arab Emirates. Last week I got to know her a little better becase she was one of the beautiful women portayed on the Stripes’ Post.

This week we are going to get to know a little more about this fascinating woman. On her blog’s profile she says that although she’s not a model or a fashionista she’s “into sharing inspiration and style on this roller coaster quest of self acceptance.” She posts her outfits pratically every day, and her pictures usually feature amazing backgrounds from Dubai.

Weesha’s blog reflects her personality, and after reading it for a little while you may feel under the impression that you have been friends with her for quite some time. I think that happens because although she’s a fashion blogger, you will find a lot more there: inspiring quotes and videos, links to other blogs, interesting articles and also personal impressions on her life and her love for animals.

I love her blog layout - especially the drawing of her. Weesha’s trade mark are her short skirts, dresses and shorts paired up with a fabulous assortment of sandals: flats, warrior style, ankle sandals, flip flops, peep toes, high heels. Her shoes always play a special role in her outfits. Another distinctive element of her style is her use of belts, which can always imprint more personality on any outfit. I got so inspired by her belting that I began to wear them more frequently, and when I’m not wearing one, it seems that something is missing!

You will notice that most of her outfits are summery ones, and that’s because Dubai enjoys, according to the World Travel’s Website, “an arid subtropical climate, with blue skies and sunshine all year round. The hottest months are between June and September, when temperatures can soar to 113F (45C) and more during the day and humidity levels are very high. Even the sea temperature touches on 104F (40C) during the summer months, and swimming pools at hotels are usually cooled to be refreshing. Temperatures are only slightly more moderate the rest of the year.” So, this is the perfect moment to get inspired by her gorgeous summer outfits!

With no further delay,  let’s get to know more about Weesha!

1. Why did you decide to create a fashion blog?

Honestly, it all started with an episode of E True Hollywood Story on Mia Tyler. I had never heard of her before, and googling her has led to a few blogs by plus size girls. She is still iconic to me and made me realize how sick I was of not seeing girls like me in the media. Plus, I’ve always loved dressing up and had a huge closet. I thought, why not put it out there? I wasn’t so serious about it though, and I never thought it would be such a huge part of my life like it is now.

2. What were the repercussions of your blog in your life?

Apart from making friends with a bunch of girls from all around the world, I’ve also became a lot more confident. It’s almost like receiving support for being your true self. Also, I think my style has evolved for the better due to a constant source of inspiration from a long blog roll.

However, the best thing about blogging is when you get messages from girls saying you’ve made them feel better about their bodies or changed their perception of how fat girls should dress. That’s seriously amazing!!  Blogging gives me a purpose in my life and instead of complaining about how sick the media is, we’re all doing something about it.

3. What does fashion mean to you?

Fashion is fun, creativity, self expression and makes me feel good. It’s supposed to make you happy - not make you hate yourself!

4. What are the most important aspects when you choose an outfit?

Comfort is key. Nobody looks good when they’re in pain or discomfort no matter how hot the shoes or outfit are. And I like it when things are balanced, no overkill y’know? Like too much accessories or too much matching, etc.

5. Where do you find inspiration to create your outfits?

Most of the time, my outfits just happen. I’m usually late because I have five outfit changes until I’m satisfied. I do shop a lot and sometimes I’ll buy trends that I like and have seen on blogs and in magazines.

6. What are your favorite plus size brands?

It’s quite obvious that I’m a big fan of New Look. I think they’re one of the few brands who have styles from a size 6 to 24. There’s also a brand in Dubai called Splash that has sizes up to 18 and a separate plus size range called Scarlett.

7. If you could boil your message to the plus-size women of the world down to one memorable idea, what would it be?

You’re fat. So what? Ignore everyone else’s narrow-minded opinions and just do whatever makes you happy. It’s your life; don’t give other people the power to hold you back from living it to the best.

I would like to thank Weesha not only for for being so kind for agreeing to the interview but also because her blogging experiences are a great inspiration to women all over the globe, including me!

Please share your ideas with us or your questions for Weesha in the comments below! It means a lot getting to know what’s on your mind!
