Nude Lady

If there’s a color that I love as much as I love black, it’s nude. Any range of beige, actually. I think it is so natural and absolutely elegant for any ocassion. Octavia seems to agree with me.

In the first picture she’s wearing an all nude outfit in the form of a beautiful dress that has a fitted top and a flowy skirt - a style that’s always a good option. Octavia complemented the look with a sheer pashmina shawl and nude pumps. The color looks amazing on her skin tone (nude colors are democratic and look good on everyBODY).

In the second picture she’s wearing a beige lace shirt with a metallic skirt and it’s a beautiful combination. Two neutral colors such as nude or metallic can create wonderful outfits when they are together. It’s a safe bet.

I honestly don’t know which of these dresses is my favorite. The first one is a wildcard that can be worn for both fancy or casual occasions. If you take a closer look, you’ll see that it’s actually two dresses in one: the under dress is fitted with flowered embellishments and it’s covered with nude tulle that creates a looser shape above the first one. Genius! That way you can shape the curves and create a more flowy outfit at the same time

The second dress is the one Octavia wore to the Oscars and I’ve already declared my love for it in the post Curvy Red Carpet. This off white dress is beyond gorgeous and it’s one of my all time favorite dresses. Off-whiteis a variation of white that falls right into the nude/neutral family. Again, neutrals can definitely be worn by plus sized women, like white and all of its other shades.

Wonder Pastels

Pastels are a great way to add some color to your outfit without being too bright. People who are afraid of wearing colors or white may feel comfortable in pastels as they are the perfect inbewteen tones to change your looks in a subtle way.

This is a long light pink draped dress with an embellishment that goes from the cleavage to the waist. I think it’s classy with a lot of personality.

The second picture is from a dress that looks like a two piece: on the top an embroidered blouse and on the bottom a dazzling silk skirt with an elegant knot. I love it! Gray is one of my favorite colors. It’s chic, versatile and graceful.

This first mint dress is a number one in my heart: it has the perfect fit, it’s a wrap dress, which I believe is one of the most flattering kinds of dress styles, and this shade of green is to die for.

The next one, a long turquoise draped dress is nice too, but I confess that I don’t like the upper part so much because it looks like the sleeves are meant for hiding the arms and it creates a strange volume. If it was a bit more like the sleeves on dress number one I’d like it more.

The (very) light yellow dress is sparkling and has captivated me, especially because she paired it up with dark blue shoes and clutch, a combination of colors that has never crossed my mind but it goes so well together! Maybe it’s time to get inspired and wear more yellow (which was one of my fashion resolutions for 2012).

Hair and Makeup

Octavia Spencer is usually seen wearing very natural makeup that matches her skin tone so perfectly that it almost looks as if she’s wearing nothing at all. I’m a huge fan of this kind of fresh and effortless look (although it can be a lot of hard work to create that natural look with makeup). I think she might be wearing fake eyelashes, but even if that’s the case, they look natural.

For her hair, Octavia usually wears nice updos or wears it brushed back with some light waves. Take a look:

In this first picture we can see Octavia with an oversized bun. With the colossal and fabulous earrings the bun creates the perfect frame for her face.

A lower kind of bun that is always a good choice for fancy occasions.

High buns with centered and lateral bangs.

A set of semi-structured updos. I think this kind of hair style has the best of both worlds; a bit of structure and some loose hair in the front to create a bolder look.

In this set of pictures we can see Octavia with her hair loose. It’s usually straight on the top with some waves on the bottom. I’d love to see her rocking some curls too, but I’ve only found one picture of her hair styled that way that, posted in the first part of this series.

A Style Icon

I must say that Octavia Spencer has become a fashion icon for me. I know her relationship with her body may be a little controversial, but I can’t deny the fact that she has great style. I’m very choosy when it comes to fashion, especially on the red carpet. It’s very rare for me to like the dresses I see worn to these events, be it plus sized or “regular” ones. Octavia seems to have performed a fashion miracle, because I liked every outfit of hers so far.

Do you like her style too? I’d love to hear your opinion about her.
