No, this blog post isn’t about the weather. It’s about pain.
We all experience it. It can take the form of a headache, stiff joints, and sore muscles. It happens after exertion or sometimes for no reason at all. It can last a few minutes, a few days, or all the time. Sometimes it’s tolerable and sometimes it’s debilitating. We all experience pain.
Pete Egoscue has written a wonderful book about how to control and stop pain titled Pain Free: A Revolutionary Method for Stopping Chronic Pain. My favorite part is an analogy Pete makes in chapter three. He suggests that the body has its own weather channel. We are our own ecosystem, and our bodies react to the ‘weather’ happening inside of them.
If we can get in touch with our bodies, or, to keep with the analogy, check the weather, we can pinpoint the problematic areas that are causing pain and work out some ways to conquer it.
Taking some time each day to ‘check the weather’ is a great and very easy way to keep your body happy and healthy. In a matter of just a few minutes, you can not only scan the body for aches, but also execute a few quick exercises and stretches to solve the problem.
No pain? Great! Check the weather anyway- you never know what you’ll find, and a little extra stretching always helps.
