Please Pass the Practicality

I want to stand up for myself and others like me, others who are defined as “overweight” and “obese” by the prevailing standards - and marginalized as a result. I want fat people from all walks of life not to feel inferior, or “not good enough” because of their weight. As a dietician, this blog will be about my thoughts and musings on this and related subjects. I hope you'll join me and share your thoughts, too.

The Pleasures of Variety

Lately, I’ve been experimenting with new foods and flavors to go with my Good Measures meals. Having the variety helps me not fall in a food rut.

Trust, Fear, and Temptation

I am hopeful that in sharing my personal fears regarding food temptation and trust that others will feel more comfortable sharing their stories, too. I’m sure we have some of the same fears, and maybe we can help each other work through them!

The Challenge of Thinking Positively

I know there are other bloggers here who make helpful suggestions for keeping a positive attitude. This sight is an important place for us to find the support we need to counteract the fat negativity we face in our day to day lives. I just think we need to be real about how hard it can be to overcome that negativity, and recognize that sometimes venting about it to others who understand can be a helpful coping tool. Even better than that (but not necessarily in place of it) is taking the action we can take to counteract the negativity in a positive way.

More About Snacking, Plus Food Combinations

Snacking has an important place so long as it’s not used as a crutch, and it’s important we muse about that before moving on.
